Following the negative impacts of activities of illegal operators, scavengers, thieves and vandals in the scrap and waste industry across the nation, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corpse, NSCDC, Lagos state Command, met with the leadership of National Association of Scrap and Waste Dealers Association of Nigeria, NASWDEN, recently in Lagos Branch.
The focus of the meeting is to collaborate in taming the illegal activities of NASWDEN in the State. The Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, who was represented by Head of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department, Deputy Commandant of Corps Agbetiloye Kolawole, received, Alhaji Ibrahim Soja, Acting National President of NASWDEN and Comrade Adedotun Adewale, the Lagos State Chairman and his team at the NSCDC Lagos Command in Alausa, Ikeja.
To this end, the Command through DCC Agbetiloye and the representative of NASWDEN agree to collaborate in identifying gaps and challenges, provide possible professional interventions, apprehend offenders as well as together bring the menace to as low as reasonably possible if not to an end in the State.
The Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro also assures unrepentant vandals of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure of NSCDC’s resolve to deal with them. In line with this, he said that such activities will not be tolerated or allowed to thrive, in Lagos State under NSCDC’s watch. He also disclosed that the NSCDC will continue to collaborate with other sister agencies and relevant stakeholders of government and grassroot communities in this regard.
