IG CHARGES NEW LAGOS CP TO UPHOLD RULE OF LAW …Jimoh reads riot Act to criminals in Lagos

The Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has charged the new CP he deployed to Lagos, CP Jimoh Moshood to uphold the rule of law and maintain operational excellence and to lead with unwavering integrity, enforce discipline, and implement proactive strategies to safeguard lives and property in Lagos.

On his part the new Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh has assumed duty as the 41st Commissioner of Lagos Police Command.

During his maiden meeting with officers of the Command and journalists at the Command’s Headquarters in Ikeja, the new CP who seems to understand the metropolitan nature of Lagos minced no word on his mission in Lagos. Here is excerpts from that interaction where he vowed to reduce all forms of crimes and criminalities in the state.

The Command is not unmindful of the concerns and complaints of members of the public about unsatisfactory conduct of few police officers which was not condoned at any time.

Some personnel have been punished in line with police disciplinary processes in the past for misconduct.

CP Moshood Jimoh

We will redouble efforts and work with the state government and residents to further reduce the fear of crime to enable law-abiding people and corporate entities to go about their day-to-day businesses and means of livelihood peacefully.

The police will work very hard to ensure the protection of all investors – government investments, and local and foreign investments in the state.

The command will work closely with the state government, prominent, eminent personalities, and all other stakeholders that are committed to partnering with the police to ensure security and safety.

The Command would prioritize effective synergy, partnership and cooperation with sister security and safety agencies and services in the state.

Our collective commitment and collaboration will ensure a more secure and safer Centre of excellence.

The command will be more proactive in crime fighting and prevention to detect the act and deal with it according to the laws with early warning signals of crimes and other threats.

The techniques being implemented by the command to fight crimes around identified black spots and other notorious crime scenes will be reinvigorated and improved upon to achieve results and get criminals off the streets of Lagos.

We, therefore, urge parents and guardians to prevail on their children and wards to desist from cult-related activities or face the full wrath of the law, as the command will stop at nothing to rid the state of all acts of cultism.

The command will continue to uphold an open-door policy, ensuring a people-friendly and community-oriented approach to policing for all residents.

The people of the state will have unhindered opportunity to interact freely with the police at all levels to strengthen the trust, accountability, and mutual respect on both sides. Human rights abuses would not be tolerated.

Our approach to policing will be firmly rooted in the dictates of international best practices in policing. While professionalism, respect for human rights and human dignity of every resident will be religiously observed

The full weight of the law will be applied to criminals in the state. They are hereby strongly warned and advised to repent, abandon crime or leave Lagos state.

The state will, henceforth, be too hot for men of the underworld and it will be a no-go area for criminals and their cohorts.The command would sustain its onslaught on cultism.
